Elaine Wakeland, C.N.M.
Director of Midwifery
Since becoming a nurse in 1971, Elaine has been involved with mothers and babies. She started out in a neonatal intensive care unit, taking care of critically ill babies. Then she moved to a maternity unit where she worked in all areas: labor and delivery, postpartum and the nursery. Elaine taught childbirth classes, was a grief counselor and became a lactation consultant. She also assisted in c-sections and taught fetal monitoring. After 27 years she saw her dream become reality when she became a certified nurse midwife. Elaine's desire is to make it possible for women to have a wonderful birth experience.
